On Friday July 26, 2019, a delegation from the National Health Students Association of Ghana led by the President, H.E. Franklin Nyanzu was at the Ministry of Health to meet the Minister, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu and his Deputy, Hon. Alexander Abban.
This meeting was to among other things discuss the aftermath of the international health students summit and the welfare of health students in general.
The team used the opportunity to thank the Ministry for honoring their invitation to partake in the International Health Students Summit. They expressed how grateful they are for all the diverse support and assistance the Ministry has given so far.
In addition, the President made enquiries on the ministry's recruitment of health graduates as discussed earlier. He further appealed to the government to consider fresh graduates for the Barbados export.
Lastly the President made enquiries into the Health Trainees allowance. The team was assured that the allowance has been paid by the ministry; however the delay was due to switching funds from the ministry to the students account, which he is hopeful would be resolved and students would receive their due allowance.
More importantly, the Ministry pledged their unflinching support to the activities of the association. He admonished that, there was the need to stay united irrespective of our diverse fields of study and interest. This intra-faculty cohesion would in the long run boost patients confidence and safe guard the health system in general.
